Episode 32

ChatGPT for Cybersec: What's it Good For?

A healthy skepticism for LLMs like OpenAI's ChatGPT is understandable: we're contending with security breaches & data privacy issues, coding prompts answered with 2-year-old source material, and rampant trivia hallucinations. Not to mention AI's highly seasonal past, with interest surging and waning in fads. Strictly as a generator of contextually relevant content however, GPT4 is uniquely capable. It has a great use case of re-framing technical data for different users. And since it backdoors to the internet, the model can pretty viably replace manual Stack Overflow/Google hunts by proposing remediation actions within seconds. Still, the security concerns are real, and a deal-breaker for some wary teams. Much like a certain special intro-bomber who greeted us this episode, Chat is at an early stage in its life—still learning what to or not to say, and how to say it.
